Hand Therapy

What is a Hand Therapist, and how can they help you?

A Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) is an Occupational or Physical Therapist who, through advanced training, specialize in rehabilitation of patients with conditions affecting the hands and upper extremity. The high degree of specialization requires extensive continuing education and advanced certification.

A CHT is able to work with a variety of upper extremity conditions from a patient that has been injured in an accident or sustained trauma, including fractures, tendon and nerve injuries, or amputation of the hand and arm. To those with chronic, functionally limiting injuries such as tendonitis, arthritis, and repetitive motion disorders including Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or Tennis Elbow. As well our therapists have a very close relationship with local hand surgeons to provide the greatest level of care both pre and post surgery.
